I guess working on an Asian inspired project has put me in the mood to create Asian inspired art... you would think being Asian would have done that already.
I was lunching at delicious Porto's Bakery and spotted this Asian hipster. FYI, I was enjoying an amazing meal comprised of a potato ball, a banana-strawberry smoothie, and a turkey croissant sandwich.
A.P.E. is this weekend and I will be sharing table #444 with the talented Mr. Vaughn Ross. I will be selling some prints, a sketchbook of my recent travels to Europe, and copies of BattleMilk 2. These are some pages from the European sketchbook. Hope to see you there!
One of my favorite pieces I got see while in Paris was Camille Claudel's Maturity. The sketch does the piece no justice. This was from the version of the sculpture from the Rodin Museum. You can also find a version in the Musee d'Orsay.
The guys and I will be at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA this Saturday (August 28th) to sign copies of BATTLEMiLK 2 along with William Stout, who will be there signing his book "Hallucinations." The event goes from 4 - 8pm. Hope to see you there!
As much as I love breaking in a new pen, I really like finishing up an old one too. The old ones start to dry out a bit, but creates a different kind of character in their mark because of that.
BATTLEMiLK Volume 2 will be at this year's San Diego Comic Con, available at the Design Studio Press Booth (Booth #1701). The artists (yes, that includes me) will be there to sign copies on Friday, July 23, from 4 - 5pm.
If you are not able to make it to Comic Con this year, BM2 will be available wherever DSP books are sold (i.e. Amazon.com, Borders, etc.) Hope to see you there!
Taking a tour of Alcatraz is one of the few touristy activities in San Francisco I recommend doing. I took my uncle while he came to visit recently. They also feature a nighttime tour I'm eager to take someday. Who's in?!
I have been working on a book with some friends (David Le Merrer, Jackson Sze, Kilian Plunkett, Thang Le, and Wayne Lo) and it will be coming out really soon: Battlemilk Volume 2. The website became live today. The book will be available online, in stores, and at this year's San Diego Comic Con (where we will be signing copies at the Design Studio Press booth). Oh, Comic Con it's been awhile since we've seen each other, let's try to be friends shall we?
Work has been extra, how you say, nuts lately, but I took some time to enjoy the city during a beautiful weekend. Great company, beautiful sunshine, delicious eats, and some sketching made for an amazing day.
